2025 design trends: How to stay ahead of the curve (without looking like everyone else)

Even though AI-generated content is becoming increasingly prevalent, many businesses are looking for ways to stand out authentically online.

As we look ahead to the New Year, there are several design trends emerging that balance technological advancements in AI with genuine human connection.

We asked our creative team what they think will shape design in 2025, and how businesses can implement these trends while maintaining a unique identity.

Here’s what they are predicting…

The return to organic design

Jane, our Account Director, believes that, in response to digital saturation, 2025 will see a significant return to organic design elements.

We’re already seeing websites move away from rigid boxy layouts in favour of flowing, natural shapes that create a more welcoming user experience.

Incorporating organic shapes into your UI elements, like buttons and containers, is the easiest way to implement this trend. Including a more natural colour palette can also help create a more authentic feel for your brand. This is also reflected in Mocha Mousse being named The Color Of 2025 by Pantone.

However, it’s always worth keeping in mind that organic doesn’t mean unstructured. Your website should still align with your brand identity and maintain a clear journey for users!

Interactive 3D elements

Rob, our Digital Lead, has noticed that in 2024, 3D elements have become increasingly sophisticated, particularly in eCommerce. He expects 2025 to take things to the next level!

From product visualisations to immersive brand storytelling, 3D design is definitely set to become more widely adopted across all sectors.

While 3D product rotation has become the standard for some businesses, standing out means thinking beyond basic functionality. Incorporate more 3D elements into your online presence (where appropriate) can enhance the user experience and tell your brand story.

Remember though – performance is crucial. Ensure any new 3D elements enhance (rather than hinder!) your site’s functionality.

Immersive scrolling experiences

Emma, our Digital Designer, has highlighted how scrolling is no longer just about moving through content. Instead, it’s becoming an integral part of the user experience. Websites that can respond dynamically to scrolling (in all directions) can create memorable interactions that keep visitors engaged.

The key to standing out here is to consider how purposeful interactions can enhance your online presence. After all, you don’t want to distract visitors to your website! Introducing elements like scroll-triggered animations could reveal your content in meaningful ways.

Be careful, though – too many interactive elements can quickly overwhelm your users and impact your site’s performance.

Using typography as a design centrepiece

Emma also thinks that bold, oversized typography is set to take centre stage in 2025. Text will become a central design element, rather than just content – a trend that allows for immediate visual impact, while maintaining the clarity of branding messaging.

Naturally, if this takes off, you’ll want to avoid looking like everyone else! Consider how your typography can reflect your brand’s personality. This may mean introducing a custom typeface, or modifying your existing font with other creative elements.

Readability should never be sacrificed for style though – so keep that in mind!

AI as a design tool (not a replacement)

Pete, our Account Director, believes the key to standing out in 2025 will be using AI as an enhancement to human creativity, not a replacement for it. AI tools may be becoming increasingly sophisticated, but they won’t replace the need for designers any time soon!

When using AI tools, focus on how they can augment your design process, rather than take over. Use AI for ideation and efficiency, but ensure that the final output aligns with your brand voice and maintains the human influence that audiences need.

Making these trends work for you

Trends should enhance your brand, not define it. Before you implement any new design element, consider:

  • How it aligns with your wider brand identity
  • Whether it enhances the user experience on your website
  • Does it serve a clear purpose?
  • Will it behave as expected across devices and cross-channel?
  • Whether it will still feel relevant beyond 2025

Time to take action

A New Year is guaranteed to bring new trends. And, while these trends also bring opportunities for brands looking to create meaningful connections with their audiences, the key is to be selective. Choose the trends that align best with your brand values and enhance the overall user experience!

And, if you want to introduce any of these trends to your website in 2025, get in touch with our team. We’ll help you implement them in a way that feels authentic to your brand, while also driving real business results.
