Putting A Motorsport Business In Pole Position With New Trophy Design

Introduction

Our client is a leader in British motorsport manufacturing, selling their world-class race cars globally. To date, our relationship has seen us provide a variety of marketing collateral such as promotional materials and brochures.

The Brief

Over the past few years we have been working with the Leeds-based team at Ginetta producing all kinds projects for their requirements. This has ranged from brochures and banners, to hospitality items and now trophy design!

At Telescope our team has a broad skillset, with experience in all manners of design. This enables us to take on pretty much any design requirement our clients may have (however niche they might seem!)

Ginetta approached us to design 2022 championship trophies for all their racing events across their year. The main part of the trophy had to be designed out of one piece of metal which then could be bent and finished at their factory.

The Challenge

This particular project was quite an unusual one for us – it’s not every day you get asked to design a motorsport trophy! But overall, we treated it like any other design task, by researching and developing our ideas from concept to the final produced product.

We worked closely with Ginetta to make sure the mechanical side of the ideas could be achieved.

Another complication was that the trophies had around 650 individual plaques, with varying track names and race dates etc. This meant there was a large amount of artwork that needed to be created.

The Solution

Previously the trophy artwork had been created one-by-one by the client – a time consuming task! But because of our expertise in data management, we came up with a cunning plan to create these plaques more efficiently, by generating the artwork using information from the database and pulling it through to the design software.

Our team in the Studio (and the client!) are really pleased with the finished designs – and these three winners at Thruxton look pretty delighted too!
